Marled Hot Water Bottle Cozy Pattern

This hot water bottle cozy is knit magic loop from the bottom up, using simple increases and decreases, stockinette stitch in the round, and a two by two rib at the top.

It's a perfect pattern to hold two fingering weight yarns together, or use up a random skein of DK weight yarn. I used about 60 grams of yarn for a cover.

This pattern fits a one liter (1L) hot water bottle, which is smaller than the traditional size.

Yarn:

Option 1: Two fingering weight yarns held double, for a total of about 60 grams or 277 yards (254 m). Yarn shown is Pineapple Yarn Lani Sock Shell Collection and February 2025.

Option 2: One strand of DK weight yarn, about 60 grams or 148 yards (135 m).

Needles: US Size 5 (3.75mm) circular needles. Mine were on an 80 cm cable, though you may find a shorter cable is less cumbersome, especially on the rib section.

Gauge: 20 st and 40 rows = 4 inches/10 cm
